Stories have always given me a way to explore people, relationships, challenges, hope, and the unexpected turns that shape our lives. As Jo Elizabeth Pinto, I have written books across different genres, giving readers opportunities to discover everything from memorable fiction to personal reflections and poetry.

My journey as an author has grown from a love of storytelling and a belief that words can entertain while giving readers something meaningful to consider. Some of my books invite readers into fictional worlds filled with complicated characters and relationships. Others draw more directly from life, family, nature, and personal experience.

The Bright Side of Darkness

The Bright Side of Darkness is my debut novel and an important part of the story behind Bright Side Author.

The novel introduces readers to characters facing difficult circumstances, complicated relationships, and life changing choices. At its heart is a story of adventure and discovery that asks readers to look beyond appearances and consider where hope can be found when circumstances seem darkest.

The book received a First Place Indie Book Award for Inspirational Fiction, marking an important milestone in my journey as an author.

Best selling author Jim Stovall also praised the novel, observing that it “...introduces us to characters that take us on a rollercoaster ride of adventure and discovery.”

That sense of movement and discovery is central to the experience I wanted to create. The characters face challenges that require them to grow, adapt, and find their way through circumstances they may never have expected.

Writing about parenting gives me a different opportunity from creating fictional characters. Instead of imagining a world, I can reflect on real experiences and the moments that make family life memorable.

Dancing with the Seasons: A Year in Simple Verse

Dancing with the Seasons: A Year in Simple Verse was released in January 2022 and explores another form of writing that I enjoy: poetry.

This slim collection features short nature poems designed to be approachable and easy to read. The poems use vivid imagery to capture moments from the changing seasons and the natural world.

The collection can appeal to people who do not usually consider themselves poetry readers while still offering imagery for readers who already appreciate poetry.

Poetry allows me to work with language differently than I do in a novel or memoir. A short poem can capture an image, feeling, or moment without needing an entire chapter to make its impression.

Dancing with the Seasons gives readers a chance to experience this quieter and more reflective side of my work.

Braided Love

Braided Love was released on December 31, 2023, and is another young adult novel in my collection.

The book became the focus of my January 2024 appearance on the Blind Chick podcast with Penn and Moses Street. During that conversation, we discussed Braided Love as well as the books and life experiences that led me to that point in my writing career.

For me, every new book becomes part of a larger creative journey. Earlier stories influence later ones, while new experiences can change how I approach characters, relationships, and the themes I want to explore.

Braided Love reflects that continuing development and gives readers another opportunity to experience my approach to young adult storytelling.

Unbroken Love

Unbroken Love is my latest novel and continues my exploration of young adult relationships, personal challenges, and the connections that shape our lives.

The book is a young adult romance that brings readers into another character driven story centered on the complexities of love and growing up.

In February 2026, I discussed Unbroken Love with Annie Chiappetta during a Behind Our Eyes Book Launch interview. The conversation provided an opportunity to introduce the novel and talk about this newest addition to my body of work.

Unbroken Love is available in paperback and Kindle formats, with an Audible version planned for release.

My books represent different stages of my life as a writer and different ways of telling a story. Fiction allows me to create characters and explore their choices. Young adult novels let me examine relationships and growing experiences through a different lens. Memoir gives me room to share real moments from family life, while poetry creates space for observation and reflection.

Although the forms change, storytelling remains at the center of what I do.

My experience writing and publishing books also influences the professional author services I provide. I understand what it means to spend time developing an idea, returning to a manuscript, reconsidering words, and working toward a finished piece.
