Public Speaking Built Around Real Experiences
My approach to public speaking is rooted in authentic storytelling.
I was among the first blind students to integrate public schools in the 1970s when federal laws allowed children with disabilities to be educated with their peers. Since then, my life has taken me through education, writing, publishing, parenting, editing, Braille proofreading, and many other experiences that have shaped the stories and perspectives I can share.
I have earned two college degrees and written six books across fiction, young adult literature, memoir, and poetry.
These experiences give me more than abstract ideas to discuss. They provide real stories through which audiences can consider broader themes such as resilience, communication, personal growth, and navigating challenges.
Rather than relying on familiar motivational phrases, I use specific experiences to illustrate ideas in ways audiences can understand and remember.
